THIRDS 2 Year Anniversary Celebration Event!!

THIRDSAnnBlogBanner

Hello all! Thank you so much for joining me as we celebrate the THIRDS 2 Year Anniversary!! Woot! It’s hard to believe it’s been two years since Dexter J. Daley and the Destructive Delta crew were unleashed upon the world. I often get asked if while I was writing Hell & High Water I had any idea of what the THIRDS would turn into. That would be a big nope. I submitted Rack & Ruin, book 3, to my publisher before Hell & High Water was even released. I was kinda freakin’ out. I had written three books in this new series, different to anything I’d done before, and the first book hadn’t even been released. My main thought at the time was “please don’t let this tank”. Seriously.

Two years later and I still can’t believe it. I am continuously amazed and blown away by all the love shown to these fellas and the series. After Hell & High Water, the THIRDS Nerds came onto the scene. We are now 686 members strong and still growing. There’s been THIRDS inspired fan art, fan playlists, jewelry, SIMS characters, cakes, and all kinds of awesomeness from amazing readers.

This week Smoke & Mirrors, book 7 is released. It’s been an incredible adventure, but it’s not over just yet. With Smoke & Mirrors ending the way it does, I’ve had folks asking me if this is the end of the THIRDS. Definitely not. Events were planned from the beginning to take the series in a specific direction, the question was what I’d do when we reached the end, because there would have to be an end. By mid-series I would know whether the main series would be it, or of I’d continue on to the next THIRDS adventure. It would all depend on how much I was enjoying writing the THIRDS and if readers were still enjoying reading it. By the time I wrote Against the Grain, I knew I wasn’t ready to give up writing Dex and Sloane just yet.

Right now I’m working on Seb and Hudson’s book, followed by book 9, the last Dex and Sloane book in the MAIN series. So what’s coming next? I’m super excited about what’s coming next year!! The main series may be coming to an end, but the adventure, comedy, and romance is far from done. We’re kicking things up a notch, and don’t worry, our Destructive Delta crew will still be around. Everything will be revealed in Smoke & Mirrors, the turning point in the THIRDS world, and in Dex and Sloane’s lives. There is so much planned! I can’t wait to share it all with you!

How about a little teaser?

I know change can be a scary thing, especially when you love the characters, but you’ll have to trust me. In 2017, things about to get real. The time has come to put all that training–and then some–to use. Dex and Sloane are going to be kicking some serious butt, and although the new series will belong solely to Dex and Sloane, Destructive Delta will still play an important role. They are a family after all. We may not see them as much as we do now, but they’re not going away. Every badass operative needs to have a team at their back, and no team can make it rain fire and wrath like Destructive Delta. We’re also going to be introduced to some new key players, and be seeing a lot more of Austen and Wolf. The side stories are still happening. Austen and Zach, Bradley and Lou etc. I’ll be announcing the series name at a later date so folks have time to read Smoke & Mirrors. It all starts to make more sense there. I’ll let Dex tell you how he feels about this.

Either way, I hope you’re as excited as I am. Is the THIRDS world ready for a lethally trained Dex? We’ll soon find out. It’s like an exciting new TV series in your brain, with lots of action, explosions, kicking-butt, sexy-times, drama, angst, shenanigans, and yes, the tagline remains Action. Comedy. Romance. And that One Weird Guy. Only this time the weird guy’s a little more sharply dressed. ;)

How about we give away some goodies!!

WIP Excerpt: Hell & High Water, THIRDS, Book 1

workinprogressHere’s an excerpt from my current work in progress that I’ve mentioned. From book 1 of my sexy law enforcement shifter series. A little background info:

Dex is a Human, ex-homicide detective from the Human Police Force turned rookie Defense Agent for the T.H.I.R.D.S. –a special military funded law enforcement agency. Sloane is a Therian (shifter) Defense Agent with over 10 years experience, ruing the day Dexter J. Daley walked through his door. Or rather descended upon him in a whirlwind of chaos and cheese snacks.

More on it to come soon!

@*@*@*@

Dex beamed at him. “That was good. I really liked that one. It was even better than the strawberry and white chocolate thingy with the little chocolate shavings.”

The young Therian placed his hands on the stainless steel table behind him and arched his back, his eyes on Dex’s lips. “Tell me, Agent Daley. Do you like café con leche?”

Dex’s face lit up. “I love café con leche.”

“Agent Daley,” Sloane barked, causing the two to jump.

“Crap.” Dex cleared his throat and gave the young chef an apologetic smile. “Sorry, Jordan, duty calls. Thanks so much for the free samples.”

“Any time, Agent Daley.” The Therian was practically purring.

Sloane waited, his eyes narrowed, and his jaw clenched as Dex hurried over. As soon as they were outside the kitchen, Sloane turned to Dex in disbelief. “We’re in the middle of a case and you’re flirting?”

“I wasn’t flirting, I was eating. I’m starving. Which is your fault.”

My fault?” Clearly he’d had a momentary lapse of judgment by thinking the two of them could get along. The urge to punch the guy was steadily rising. “How is this my fault?”

“You gave my Cheesy Doodles away!” Dex hissed.

“Jesus Christ, again with that?” Sloane tried to summon patience but instead, he kept seeing Dex’s stupid tongue poking out to lick his bottom lip. He pushed that thought away, grabbed Dex’s arm, and hauled him toward the exit. “That back there had nothing to do with food, unless we count you being part of the menu. The guy was two seconds away from pouncing on you.”

“What? No way. We were talking about chocolate and café con leche.”

Sloane stopped in his tracks. “You’re not serious are you? You can’t be that oblivious.”

“To what?” Dex’s wide eyes told Sloane he most probably was. How could a guy like Dex be so clueless? The way Hudson kept trying to have eye sex with the guy, the Therian in the kitchen ready to rip off his clothes? Hell, Sloane had even caught Letty eyeing Dex’s ass on more than one occasion. Yet Dex never seemed to notice.

“To the fact that he wasn’t talking about drinks, you idiot. He wanted to be the café in your leche.”

Dex frowned, when it dawned on him. “Ohhh. I misread that.”

“I don’t…” Sloane shook his head. He didn’t even have words. “Get in the damn truck before I shoot you.” He pushed Dex from behind, guiding him into the lobby, grunting every time Dex paused to talk at him over his shoulder.

“You know, you should try Yoga. Find a way to channel all that aggression,” Dex said thoughtfully. Sloane gave him another push.

“I have found a way. It’s called shoving my foot up your ass.”

“That doesn’t sound very relaxing.”

Push. “I’m sure I’ll feel plenty relaxed afterward.”

“You got a problem.” Dex grimaced and Sloane gave another push to get him moving again.

“Yeah, and I’m looking right at it.” This situation was a heart attack waiting to happen. He just knew it. The stress of the job, now this. Yep, he was going to keel over. He could see the heading on his tombstone now: Sloane Brodie departed this world at age 37 due to massive coronary trauma as a result of idiot partner Dexter J. Daley.

“Ouch, man. That’s harsh.”

Sloane had just about reached the front door when Calvin’s voice came over his earpiece.

“Agent Brodie, we got a problem.”

“What is it?”

“Press is outside.”

“Shit.” Sloane crept up to the large glass front, grateful for the wall to ceiling venetian blinds. Careful not to jostle the thin wooden slats, he peeked outside. Damn it, there were at least three news vans that he could see. He pulled back and tapped his earpiece. “What about Cael and Rosa?”

Rosa’s concerned voice came over the line. “We’re in the truck. We didn’t see you guys so figured you’d already headed out.”

Sloane cast Dex an accusing glare. “We got momentarily held up. Dex had to take a shit.”

Dex’s jaw dropped. He made to touch his earpiece when Sloane caught his wrist, and twisted his arm behind him, making him double over.

“Ow, ow, ow,” Dex hissed, glaring up at him.

“Thank you for the disturbing visual,” Rosa grunted. “What now?”

“We’re going out the back. Have the Bearcat ready to go as soon as we get there.” He released Dex’s arm, pulled him up, and grinned at the sour expression on Dex’s face.

“That was not cool, man.”

“Maybe next time you’ll think twice about wandering off. Now let’s go.”

They rushed through the lobby and reception area to the double doors on the right. Behind him Dex mimicked him, lowering his voice as he repeated Sloane’s words, adding an unintelligible rambling of grunts and growls at the end.

“There’s something seriously wrong with you,” Sloane grunted, following the hallway he’d come in through earlier, to the pantry, and finally out into the hall leading to the loading dock.

“Must be the company I’ve been keeping,” Dex quipped. Sloane turned and grabbed Dex by the shoulders.

“Okay, shut up for a minute. Let’s pretend you’re a normal agent for a sec, and that you weren’t sent here to drive me out of my freaking mind. Can you do that?”

Dex pursed his lips. “I’ll have to reach really deep for that one, but I think I can manage.”

“Good. Soon as we get out there, make a B-line for the truck, and try not to shoot anyone.”

“No promises,” Dex muttered.

Post GRL2013 and What Comes Next?

GRL2013PBHello all! Sadly, GayRomLit 2013 has come and gone already. Since I went as a general attendee, I got to relax a little and didn’t have to worry about swag or panels, though next year I’m really hoping to register as an author. I had so much fun. The writers’ workshop was fantastic, not just because of the classes, but because it allowed you the opportunity to spend some time with your fellow authors before the big event.

I had such a great time seeing folks I’d met the previous year, plus I got to meet loads of new folks this year, many of whom I’d chatted with online but hadn’t met in person yet. The themed events were awesome, and the photo booth was a genius idea. I didn’t take pictures because I know myself. I get swept up in the people and events and just forget, but there are LOADS of pictures on Facebook, so if you go to my Facebook page you’ll see me tagged in lots of them. I dressed up as a flapper for the masquerade (I couldn’t resist).

I would list all the highlights but that would make this post silly long. I could gush about GRL for ages. Again, see Facebook. So what’s next? Well, GRL is obviously a great place to be to get motivated and inspired. I had several folks give me a good kick up the backside–figuratively of course, while I was there about my writing. My WIP list is massive, but I realized unless I got myself organized and scheduled, it would remain a WIP list and not a New Release list–which I’d been struggling with the last few months. I thought long and hard about what I wanted to have out next year, and what I would like to have available for GRL if I was lucky enough to get an author slot. Those of you thinking Hunter’s book, he will be worked into the schedule somehow.

Next year, I’d like to see the release of a four book shifter series I’ve been working on for a while now. I’ve been really excited about this series because it’s a little different from what’s out there (at least I think so) and I’m hoping you’ll all  love these guys as much as I do. They also happen to be pretty damn hot. Did I mention they’re in law enforcement? Yep, I’m pretty darn excited. About the story. *ahem*

I’ve worked out a schedule so you won’t have to wait a year between books. In fact, if life permits, they will hopefully be released within a month or so of each other. Eventually there will be spin-offs with two other pairings, but for now we have the two MC’s across four books. There are lots of exciting ideas in the works for this series because I want to go big with it. Of course, this means that my blogging will likely fall back to about once a week. The schedule is pretty tight–especially for the first book, and as I’ll be pretty much concentrating on this series for the next year, it means slower releases for my other WIP titles. We’ll see what I can fit in where. Busy doesn’t begin to describe it. But, deadlines are good for me. It means I get the books done. There will be more info on these fellas soon, so stay tuned!

I’ll also be posting dates and stops for The Impetuous Afflictions Blog Tour next week! Lots of chances to win goodies coming soon!
