MM Scavenger Hunt!

MM Veterans Day Scavenger Hunt

Welcome to the MM Veterans Day Scavenger Hunt

Today I am hosting Book Lovers 4Ever

Hello all! Welcome to my stop of the M/M Scavenger Hunt! I’m super excited to welcome the lovely folks from Book Lovers 4Ever who’ve been so kind as to answer a few of my questions!

What do you love most about having a book blog?

Wendy- Connecting with the authors and reading all the great books. Reading a great book and spreading the word. Sharing my opinion, I like giving my opinion LOL

LT- Being able to share my views and opinions of the books I love and some I don’t like so much.

Shonna- Connecting with other readers, bloggers and authors that share a passion for reading and sharing it.

What do you find the most challenging when reviewing a book?

Wendy- Telling everyone what I thought about the book without giving away the entire story- LOL. My main problem, the more I liked the book the harder I have writing a review. I want to shout from the rooftops how awesome the book was but then I tend to gush and give too much away. (We’ve been blogging for 6 years and even after all this time the three of us have different ways we write reviews, I think it is what works for us)

LT- If I don’t like the book, I find it hard to finish and give my review without being cruel.

Shonna- Everything!! LOL I try to talk about the book without giving away too much. I want to express what stands out about the author’s writing and share what excites me about the story.

Do you have a favorite trope? If you do, what is it?

Wendy- I love two alpha males, I love my males to be the same body type and to be open to “switching or flipping” (if you read M/M then you know what I’m talking about). Also friends to lovers and GFY.

LT- I like strong Alpha males saving strong females, ones that help each other. No healing too much.

Shonna- No, not really but I when I’m “NOT A HAPPY CAMPER” everyone is going to know about it,..LOL.

If you could hang out with three of your favorite characters for one day, who would they be?

Wendy- ugh this one is hard for me, so many to pick from. (1) Dex and Sloan from Charlie’s THIRDS series (No, that does not count as two- they are ONE couple…that counts as one to me) 2. Tate and Logan from Ella Frank’s Temptation series *seriously they count as one too). (3) Chris and Owen from Safety in Numbers by Jessie G. (don’t judge me you try picking just three from all these wonderfully sexy couples)

LT- Phury from J.R. Ward’s book Lover Enshrined, Black Dagger Brotherhood, Acheron (Ash) from Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Dark Hunter series and Hunter from L.A. Banks Crimson Moon series.

Shonna- 1. Bel, from the Novels of the Fading Lands by C.L. Wilson.  2. Christian Notte, from The Argeneau Series by Lynsay Sands.  3. Bones, form Jeaniene Frost’s series, Night Huntress

What book are you most excited to read next?

Wendy- Catch a Tiger by the Tail and I’m not saying that just because Charlie is interviewing us- LOL. Calvin and Hobbs are by second favorites from the THIRDS series. I just love Hobbs!!

LT- Blood Kiss by J.R. Ward the first book in the Black Dagger Legacy series.

Shonna- HARD EVER AFTER by Laura Kaye. I am a huge fan of this series. She is so talented and I LOVE all of the HARD INK Series.

Rapid Fire Q&A

Wendy:

Chocolate/Vanilla- definitely Chocolate
Coke/Pepsi– Coke
Morning/Night- I’ve always been a Night person
Coffee/Tea– Both!
Summer/Winter–Winter- the colder the better

GRL Post & Giveaway Winners!

Hello all! I’m finally getting back into the swing of things after returning from my trip to San Diego. It always takes a few days to catch up, sort through all the emails, and compile the massive To-Do list before I start working my way through it. I couldn’t hope to chronicle everything I did during that amazing week or this post would be ginormous. I had an amazing time at GRL in San Diego. It was so great to see old friends and meet new ones. There were folks I chat to online who were able to make it for the first time, so I got to put more faces to names and give them hugs. One of my lovely readers cosplayed as Dex from the THIRDS and I was just completely in awe. I never thought I’d see the day someone would dress up as one of my characters. I was just blown away, and I was gifted Dex’s name badge which was just the ultimate awesomeness.

Regina Dex cosplay

Getting to meet my readers was just the most wonderful experience. It always is. I was touched by everyone’s love for these books. Regina—our cosplaying THIRDS Nerd—gifted me a 5lb bag of gummy bears which I munched during my signing and the rest I shared with folks–because we all know I would have eaten them otherwise. Mmm, gummy bears. I was also gifted this fabulous T-shirt by Cathy and Lindsey, which had me laughing often. Dex wants to steal it to bug Sloane with it but he can’t have it.

Poop shirt by Cathy and Lindsey800

Dex made it to the con in one piece and he was loving the attention. Ash will never hear the end of it. Thank you so much to the lovely ladies who volunteered to have me ship swag and poles to them and then carted all my swag to the hotel. I got to take a picture with the adorable Skip & Pip, and just swooned over my Dex & Sloane pony buttons made by the amazing Catherine Dair who I got to hang out with.

On Wednesday I went to San Diego and had a fabulous time with an amazing group of folks. I saw this fella soon as we walked in and knew I had to have a picture, especially since I’d dubbed him Ash.

Charlie Ash SDZoo

We got to ride a purple bus around the park which was so much fun. I felt like a kid drinking my lemonade ICEE—which was so good in the heat—and taking pictures with the gang in the photo op spots. We ate at the tastiest Mexican food restaurant after a trip to the Hotel del Coronado.

On Thursday the events began. I was a little nervous about my Q&A with awesome authors Rhys Ford and Lisa Henry. But when I sat down behind the mic, Rhys presented me with my little T-Rex friend, complete with flower and dinosaur sound effects—because Rhys is just amazing and I love her to bits—and I was just so happy and moved. The Q&A was fantastic. Not only did I have a great time chatting to folks about my books, but I got to listen to Rhys and Lisa talk about their stories, characters, and writing process.

T-Rex Love

On Friday I had some mouthwatering Korean Food with a fantastic group of folks over at the Zion Market before heading to Big Joy Family Inc where I was introduced to Vietnamese coffee A.K.A Nectar of the Gods. I got to hear Greg Tremblay read from some fabulous books by Rhys Ford, Mary Calmes, and Jamie Samms.

The events were fabulous and I had a wonderful time at everything from the panels, to the signing, to the parties. I got to dance along to songs from The Rocky Horror Picture Show, danced with the amazing Z.A. Maxfield—who didn’t recognized me in my costume. It was fun seeing folks not realize it was me in the white bob. MJ O’Shea did an amazing job with everyone’s makeup. I was Mr. Freeze (Mrs. Freeze?) as part of the DC Villains costume collective. Everyone looked so amazing! My own mom didn’t recognize me in the photo which says something. LOL. For more fabulous pics of the costume party, you can find them in my Facebook album here: https://www.facebook.com/charliecochet

Hollywood Party by Amy DiMartino400
I often get asked what my favorite part of GRL is, and I have to say it’s the people. As a full time writer, this is my career, but who says I can’t have fun while working? After all, I’m very lucky that I get to do what I love. Just meeting and hanging out with all these folks who love our genre is a gift. This is a place where you can be surrounded by like-minded people who have come together to celebrate this incredible genre, and I hope to never lose sight of that.

A big thank you to Barb and Mary Taylor who were always ready for a Starbucks run, always there to lend a helping hand, and are just the sweetest people. To my awesome roomie Kim Fielding, it’s always a pleasure. To all the THIRDS Nerds and readers who came to see me, who said hello, asked for a hug or a photo, who chatted, brought cookies, laughed with me about Dex’s antics, who offered their support, or a shy smile, I thank you. I couldn’t have asked for a more amazing group. I am in awe of the love and support you’ve given me and my books.

To all my fellow authors and friends—too many to list here, but you know who you are—who have inspired me, supported me, offered me comfort and kindness, who’ve made me laugh, smile, and provided a steady stream of amazing hugs. To Poppy and Amy, my mama bears whose smiles alone brighten my day. I never feel lost when you’re around. A thank you to my awesome publisher Dreamspinner who’s helped put me on this path. To everyone who hung out with me, who shared a little piece of their hearts with me.

Thank you to everyone, whether we met in person or chat virtually, I appreciate you being there. You’re all stars in the night sky shining bright, don’t let anyone make you feel less than radiant. <3

Gearing up for GRL, Swag, and More!

Hello all! I am just flabbergasted by how quickly the time has gone. Two weeks from today until GRL officially kicks off. Where did the time ago? So much to do, to prepare. I’m still boxing up swag. Then there’s packing, deciding what shoes to leave behind. I’m so looking forward to seeing everyone and meeting new folks.

For those attending, this year the fabulous Guidebook app is back. You’ll be able to find my name under the list of Registered Authors in the GRL 2015 Guide and it will list all my sessions and events in case you’d like to add them to your schedule.   These are my events along with a few others I plan to attend. There a few more, but I likely won’t know where else I’ll be until closer to the event.

  • Wednesday Oct 14th: 7.00 pm to 10 pm – Pre-Retreat Meet & Greet (Mission Ballroom A & B)
  • Thursday Oct 15th: 3.50 pm to 4.45 pm – Featured Author Spotlight (Author Q&A) Charlie Cochet, Rhys Ford, and Lisa Henry (Mission Ballroom A).
  • Thursday Oct 15th: 6.30 pm to 8.30 pm – Dine-With-An-Author Opening Night Event (Bahia Beach & Patio). For those who are interested in sitting at the table I’ve been assigned, there should be a number on every registered authors’ name badge to let folks know which table we’ll be seated at.

  • Friday Oct 16th: 4.00 pm to 5.30 pm – GRL Fun & Craft Fair Session One: Filthy Stinking Liars! Mission Ballroom A & B
  • Saturday Oct 17th: 12.30 pm to 3 pm – Featured Author Booksigning Event (Del Mar Room).
  • Saturday Oct 17th: 9 pm to 1 am – Hooray for Hollywood Costume Party (Mission Ballroom ABC)

Now onto the swag!

I’ll have lots of nifty THIRDS swag, different items in different places.

Here’s some of the swag I’ll be giving away:

GRL2015SWAG

So what swag is going to be where?

The SWAG room:

  • Destructive Delta tote bags.
  • Scented gummy bear highlighters.
  • THIRDS Dex & Sloane jaguar bookmarks (not pictured above).
  • Roaring lion head temporary tattoos (Thank you, Venona!)
  • And these rack cards with the whole team!

20151001_142723

Author Lounge & Booksigning Event:

  • Both sets of character collector cards (pictured in first image. Quantities are limited).
  • Charm bracelets (there are actually more than the ones pictures above). We have one for each of the guys: Dex, Sloane, Ash, Cael, Calvin, Ethan, Seb, and Hudson. These are very limited. Roughly 50 of each so we’ll have to keep it to one per reader. I know it’ll be tough to choose.
  • THIRDS Dex & Sloane jaguar bookmarks (they look like the banner below).
  • THIRDS Nerds GRL 2015 San Diego buttons.

Also, providing he gets to GRL in one piece, there’s going to be a Dex pop up banner!! I’m super excited with how it turned out. It was created with readers in mind and done so that–depending on your height–you can take a picture with Dex. If you’re just the right height, you can stand in front of his hand and he’ll give you bunny ears. I couldn’t resist. Here’s what the banner looks like (it’s not as dark in print form, so you should be able to see Sloane nicely):

THIRDS Stand Up Banner Thumbnail

I’m not sure where he’ll be yet. If the banner and all its pieces make it okay to San Diego, I’ll be finding a spot for him after I arrive.

Aaand if that wasn’t nerdy enough, you’ll find these guys at the Author Lounge and my signing table. Don’t judge me. LOL

Can’t wait to see you there! <3

Dexter J. Daley’s Birthday Bash!

Dexs Bday Bash

Hey, everyone! Dexter J. Daley here. Welcome to my super-awesome-gummy-bear-sweetness, Cheesy-Doodle-crunchiness, birthday-bash-bonanza! We have all the unhealthy snacks and yummy treats you could want. I won’t tell Sloane if you won’t. Where’s Sloane? Getting ready for a different kind of birthday party, if you know what I mean. *wink wink* Oh, you don’t know what I mean? Sexy times, man. Sexy times. No you’re not invited. Pervs. Me? I am not a perv. Oh my God, the van incident was not my fault. One time. It was one time and I’m branded a perv for life.

All right, let’s crank up the music and get this party started. Sing along. I know you want to. Don’t act like you don’t love this. What’s that? Def Leppard? No, you may not play Pour Some Sugar on Me. Get your head out of the gutter. That song is for me and my sexy grumpy pants.

That animated guy dancing in the video, that’s what Ash dances like. Ha! Kidding. Don’t tell him I said that. But serious, how much would you pay to see Ash dance like that? I wouldn’t go as far as saying I’d sell my precious Challenger, but I’d be temped. So, obviously I’m a fan of the eighties. Obsessed? Hahaha. Shut your mouth. Ha! Kidding. But seriously, I’m not obsessed. I don’t wear like legwarmers under my uniform or a sweatband under my tactical helmet. There is physical photographic evidence of Sloane and Ash in their teenage years, and I’ve made it my life’s mission to find these images.

Back to the party! Now, normally I have a pre-birthday-party party because who just celebrates their birthday on one day? Okay, well, I like to get a head start. Some cake, karaoke, good food, good company, and I guess Ash too. I’ve always had pre-birthday-party parties. Ever since I was a kid. Usually we’d have sleepovers at home. Tony would make cakes and cookies, and it was BYOC (bring your own candy) which we’d hide in our pillows until my dad went to bed and we were all pretending we were asleep. Then we’d wake up and eat candy until we were sick. I know what you’re thinking, “but you dad’s an agent, how did you get away with it?”. Clearly you underestimate the deceptive powers of an eleven year old.

Poor Cael. He’d be so wired on candy that he’d end up falling asleep in weird places, like in the kitchen sink after managing to climb up there, in the bathtub, under dad’s bed, the laundry basket. Then dad would find him and Cael would have a sugar hangover, whimpering and needing to be carried everywhere because his tummy was ready to “esplode”. He’d sleep the rest of the day and I’d get grounded for a day but it was totally worth it! There was the one birthday where we converted the stairs into a Slip N’ Slide. Yeah, not my brightest idea. In my defense, I put pillows at the end so no one would end up flying into a wall. There was the tiny detail about where the water was going to go. The answer to that? The basement, and um, dad’s office. Yeah, he took over party planning after that.

I’m going to lay a little birthday party knowledge on  you. Here are a few tips on what not to do at your birthday party:

  1. Do not fill your Super Soaker with Kool Aid. Parents will not see the fun in this, even if it means shooting and getting shot at becomes tastier.
  2. Do not replace the candy from the piñata with gummy bears and then throw yourself under said piñata when the strings get pulled. This is not only a choking hazard, but will lead to a stampeding feeding frenzy. Again, parents will not appreciate their child being trampled for floor strewn gummy bears. The five second rule totally applies.
  3. Do not convince your cheetah Therian little brother to shift during your party and try to play tape the tail on the cheetah because not only will your little brother leave everyone eating his dust, he will throw a total hissy fit and steal your presents. There’s no catching him so kiss that new action figure goodbye. It’s his now. He will stash it away like a squirrel burying an acorn. Also, he eats even more in his cheetah Therian form so half your snacks are now his.
  4. Do not attempt to play Hide & Seek while said chirping little furball is in his Therian form. You will never win, which means you will always be it and it suuuuucks.
  5. Do not tell your dad you’re inviting just a few friends to your pizza party and then get the art department to put up a banner at school. I’m still receiving pizza bills from Tony.

Okay, I spilled now it’s your turn! What’s your fondest birthday memory?

Weekly News & Updates

NWFBNewsandUpdates

Hello all! Hope you had a wonderful weekend! This week’s update brings some exciting news. As some of you may know, the THIRDS series is currently being translated into French, with
Contre vents et marées (THIRDS t. 1) being released June 30th. I’m super happy to announce that The Auspicious Troubles of Love series is also currently being translated into French with Les Mésaventures Prometteuses de Chance (The Auspicious Troubles of Chance) coming soon! There’s also talk of the THIRDS being translated into another language as well, but I’ll share more on that as soon I have more solid info.

Along with translations, the North Pole City Tales series has been contracted for audiobook! The Heart of Frost and Vixen’s Valor will be released on audio late this fall! Mending Noel is already available, and if all goes according to schedule, Loving Blitz should be out in eBook format in December.

I’ve had a few folks ask if Against the Grain will be released on audio. I do believe it will be, but I won’t know for sure until the eBook is released. DSP contracts audiobook on or after book release. With the THIRDS I usually hear from them about audiobooks a few days after release. I’ll definitely share more on that once I have more information.

The Against the Grain Blog Tour starts Aug 3rd and there will be an awesome giveaway that includes swag themed to the book. Expect some fun geeky stuff.

On July 20th the fabulous Joyfully Jay is hosting the exclusive cover reveal for my contemporary romantic comedy novella Beware of Geeks Bearing Gifts. The pre-order will also be available on July 20th, and along with the cover reveal there will be a giveaway and exclusive excerpt. Release day is Aug 19th. There will also be a blog tour starting Aug 19th. More info on that soon.

For anyone attending Rainbow Con in Tampa, I’ll be there just hanging out and checking out the events on Friday, July 17th through Saturday, July 18th, so if you fancy saying hello, asking about your favorite book or series, or just chatting, come find me. :D

I’ll also be attending GRL in San Diego, CA in October 2015 as a Featured Author, and Coastal Magic Convention in Daytona Beach, FL in Feb 2016 as a Featured Author, so stay tuned for info on panels and events as we get closer. I’ll also be attending RT Booklovers Convention in Las Vegas 2016. More on that soon!

I think that’s it for this week. Stay tuned to the blog for more on upcoming releases, up dates, events, and more!

I’ll be at the Coastal Magic Convention 2016!

CMCWaveBookPROMO600

Hello all! I’m super excited to announce that I’ll be a Featured Author at the Coastal Magic Convention in Daytona Beach, Florida February 4-7, 2016! The fabulous Poppy Dennison ordered sweetly suggested that I attend this year, and I’m so happy I did. I had such a wonderful time and spent the weekend hanging out with some awesome folks! The panels were so much fun. Since it was a last minute trip I missed some of the events, but even then I had a great time. There was no question on whether or not I’d be signing up for the next one. Stay tuned for more info on all the fun happenings as we get closer to the date. In the meantime:

If you’d like to find out more about Coastal Magic, check out the website here: http://coastalmagicconvention.com/

If you’re thinking of joining us, registration opened July 1st! http://coastalmagicconvention.com/registration/

Join the LGBTQ Push Back Charity Giveaway!

LGBTQBannerFB

Hello all! I’m proud to be one of the many folks joining in the LGBTQ Push Back Charity Giveaway. What is this event? It’s a way for us to give a little something back to the charities that give so much. I’m sure many of you have heard the story about the pizza parlor that received a million dollars in donations through GoFundMe for refusing to cater an LGBT wedding. Obviously, the pizza isn’t what this is about, and although the refusal to serve LGBT people in the name of religious belief is truly upsetting to me, but I think what I find most upsetting is the fact these people received a million dollars in support. There is so much wrong happening in our world, in our country, hunger, death, despair, abuse, violence, suicides, that this to me is the worse kind of blow. These people are prepared to throw all this money at a pizza parlor in support of their beliefs when they could be supporting those who truly need help. How much food could that millions dollars have bought? How many beds? How many winter coats, shoes, blankets? I could go on and on, but instead, I want to spread the massage of love and joining in to support folks who actually care about helping others.

Authors, review bloggers, and publishers have come together to offer their support. Instead of spending $5 on a book in the next two weeks, give that $5 to an LGBT charity of your choice, tell Diverse Reader about it in their comments, and go into the draw to win a book from one of the participating donors. If you can’t make a donation then please take a moment to share a charity’s links and tell us about the charity instead.

Three fundraisers have been set up to counter the effects of Indiana’s SB 101. #Pizza4Equality is aiming to match the money raised by the pizza parlor, with all donations going to Cyndi Lauper’s True Colors Fund. Another fundraiser is aiming to raise $100,000 for Indiana Youth Group. Planting Peace hopes to raise $100,000 to provide beds for homeless LGBT people.

I’ve made my donation to the True Colors Fund and am providing an eBook to Diverse Reader for the giveaway. Together we can prove that love conquers hate. Check out the amazing post at Diverse Reader here: http://diversereader.blogspot.com/2015/04/lgbtq-push-back-charity-giveaway.html
