THIRDS agent Dexter J. Daley can’t wait to marry his fiancé, Team Leader Sloane Brodie, but first he’s looking forward to celebrating his bachelor party—which he intends to be a shenanigans-free evening of getting his groove on with family and friends.

Of course events don’t work out as planned, but for Dex that’s nothing new. One thing is for sure, dodging drug dealers and hired thugs amid booze, dancing—and even a bear costume—will guarantee it’s a night Dex will never forget. Now he just needs to survive all the fun.

Enjoy this bonus story from the THIRDS universe. These events occur between Darkest Hour Before Dawn and Tried & True in the series timeline. While reading this story would enhance your experience of the THIRDS series, it is not necessary to read before Tried & True.

Hell & High Water (THIRDS, Book 1)
Blood & Thunder (THIRDS Book 2)
Rack & Ruin (THIRDS, Book 3)

Catch a Tiger by the Tail (THIRDS, Book 6)
Smoke & Mirrors (THIRDS, Book 7)
Thick & Thin (THIRDS Book 8)
Darkest Hour Before Dawn (THIRDS, Book 9)
Gummy Bears & Grenades (A Story in the THIRDS Universe)

  1. Can’t wait for this to come out so I can re-read the entire series….from start to finish….all over again.

But I got to say, the cover just cracks me up.

  2. Can’t wait to read this! I have a question though: why is Gummy Bears going to be included with Thick and Thin, book #8, when it takes place between books #9 and #10? Shouldn’t it be included with Darkest Hour Before Dawn, book #9, instead?

I’m still a little behind in the series, because I prefer paperbacks myself, and my bestie is sharing her coveted collection of the Thirds books with me via snail mail (she lives far away unfortunately). I’m sure folks like us would be willing to wait if necessary in order to have the series in paperback form and in the proper chronological order. Is there a technical or contractual reason for the printing of the novella with book #8 instead of book #9?

Thanks for the cover reveal- very cute! – and giveaway opportunity. Hope this series never ends!

    • Hi, Nicki! Dreamspinner only releases paperbacks for stories that are novel length–so anything 60,000 words or more. Thick & Thin (THIRDS, Book 8) which is part of the main series, is a novella, which means for it to be released in paperback, it needed to be combined with another novella length story. Although Gummy Bears & Grenades takes place after book 9, it’s not part of the main series (Books 1 – 10).

Gummy Bears is a lot of fun, and informative, but it’s a side story and not essential to read to move onto book 10, (whereas Thick & Thin should be read to move onto book 9), so for folks who like to collect the paperbacks and want a complete collection, Gummy Bears & Grenades is being included with Thick & Thin so book 8 has a paperback release. Hopefully that makes sense. So basically if Gummy Bears had been added to Darkest Hour Before Dawn, Thick & Thin wouldn’t be released in paperback because of its length.

      • I figured it was something like that; a publishing issue of some sort. I’m glad it will work out for each book in the Thirds series to be available in paperback. I’m old-fashioned, as is my bestie, and even though we do read our ebooks; our Keepers must be in paperback. Thirds is definitely a keeper series! Thank you for explaining the situation to this old(er) fan.
